Welcome to the latest post in our “Employee Q&A” series, where we interview an employee to reflect on their career and experience at 3D Cloud™ by Marxent. Part of our success is mainly due to our people. So, we’re excited to feature a hardworking team member to learn about their journey at 3D Cloud.

This week, we spotlight Sarah Bubak, Senior Project Manager at 3D Cloud. Let’s read on to hear about her journey with us.

Sarah, how did you find out about 3D Cloud?

I found a job post on LinkedIn and thought the concept behind visualizing your furniture was fascinating. I had no background in 3D, and all of my PM experience was in infrastructure versus software, but I figured I had the PM aspect and could learn the rest, so I applied. Here I am, almost two years later, not looking back.

What is your current role at 3D Cloud now? What does it consist of?

I am working as a Senior Project Manager. The day-to-day consists of your standard PM responsibilities; managing deadlines, costs, scope, meeting with the clients, and keeping things moving. Every day, even though it’s the same in concept, it’s also different and exciting. I work with amazing people who never hesitate to give you their time or expertise. We are all working towards the same goal; to make our applications the best they can be for our clients.

Can you give a brief overview of your background?

I have worked in project management for almost 15 years. I actually fell into project management when I started my degree in Criminal Justice. I started out as a project coordinator and loved every aspect of it. The rest is history. I eventually went back for a Business degree, where I took PM classes.

What is one thing that surprised you about your current role?

I transitioned into the PM role while working with clients from the PM role on the content side. I already had a good understanding of content and how to manage it (normal PM responsibilities), but managing software releases were new to me. It was something new that I needed to learn and am still learning. Having already worked with the larger group, I knew I could be confident in transitioning because they would have my back.

What do you like most about the work we do at 3D Cloud?

Everyone I’ve had the privilege of working with has the most fantastic work ethic. There is, of course, a focus on finding and building new solutions for clients but also maintaining and making better-existing applications. We mix the old and new and never stop innovating. This means work is never dull!

What is one professional skill you’ve nailed?

I believe time management and organization go hand in hand, and I’m pretty great at both. These are key requirements to being successful in a project management role. I like checklists, so when things get to be overwhelming, I take a quick break, breathe and tackle one thing at a time. There’s something satisfying about crossing items off.

How would you describe your team culture?

We are a very laid-back and easygoing group, but we work hard. Our boss is available when needed for guidance, but we all jump in and help each other. We joke around and have that camaraderie despite not being in close proximity. I’ve had the privilege of working with two great teams now, and what I can say is that 3D Cloud™ by Marxent knows how to pick ’em when hiring. Every single person is the epitome of Marxent’s Core Values.

What is the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I can’t remember where I heard this or read it, but it stuck with me for years. Essentially it boils down to letting go of perfection and embracing failure. Owning up to your mistakes, no matter how bad they may be. Not every company nor person values honesty and owning mistakes, so it was reassuring when Beck said something similar shortly after I started. We even do the occasional F*** Up Fridays where the entire company can show imperfection and talk about how they bounced back or learned from it.

Thank you, Sarah, for interviewing with me today. We appreciate you sharing your journey at 3D Cloud. It’s great to see you utilize your skills to innovate with your team.
