This week, we spotlight Tracey Stephenson, Lead Quality Assurance Analyst at 3D Cloud. Let’s read on to learn more!
Tracey, how did you find out about 3D Cloud?
I was looking into new job opportunities on Indeed, and I came across the posting for QA Analyst. I did a lot of research on the company and technology and was in awe of the work we were doing. Cutting-edge technology is not something that you often get to be a part of at the ground level. I knew it would be challenging and rewarding, and I wanted to be a part of that!
What is your current role at 3D Cloud now? What does it consist of?
My current role is Lead Quality Assurance Analyst for the Office & Home vertical. I help to coordinate our sprint work across my three team members; Rici, Eve, and Adam. Our team’s focus is on the implementation of our Platform products for specific customers. I work with the team to help build their skills and provide support.
Can you give a brief overview of your background?
I started my QA career at LBrands with some of the best people, including our Director of QA, Iris. My degree is in Computer Forensics. Utilizing that knowledge to help understand how things work and, in turn, how things can break. I have long had a passion for mobile devices and understanding their nuances of them. It has been a big foundation in my testing here.
What is one thing that surprised you about your current role?
I can’t say that I was really surprised with my role. The communication within our company is transparent. I never had to question what the role would look like or the expectations. I will say it has been nice to understand more of the day-to-day business from a lead’s perspective.
What do you like most about the work we do at 3D Cloud?
The people. Don’t get me wrong; I love the challenge of the work! The fact that we are constantly pushing the envelope of technology and are literally inventing ways to test it is amazing. Having a collaborative team that respects each other and works together for a common goal is priceless.
How would you describe your direct team culture?
I’m so lucky to have a group of people that care about the products we create and cultivate. My team is passionate about doing great work almost as much as they are passionate about helping each other out. Each of us brings a different eye to projects, and we not only respect that, but we embrace it because we know that there is no one person that can make a project great. It takes the entire team.
What is something that you learned about yourself in the past year?
This is a hard one. I feel like I learn more about myself all the time. It’s difficult to really pinpoint a timeline. I have found that by being in a leadership position, I get to help mentor others. And I really forgot how much I love helping to build up other people’s skills. I love sharing my knowledge and learning from others.
Some of the work you do can be challenging. What keeps you grounded and energized?
Getting overwhelmed can happen very easily if you don’t take the time to have self-care. One of the biggest challenges of being in technology is unplugging. I take time to play with my puppy, work out, do projects around my house, and read. I try to limit my time on screens so that I have a true refresh. I also love spending time with my family.
