A total of 13 Florida companies received a combined $112.9 million in venture capital for the three months ended June 30, or about 0.87 percent of the $13 billion invested by venture capitalists nationwide. There were 1,114 deals nationwide in 2Q 2014. Quarterly VC investment activity rose 34 percent in terms of dollars and 13 percent in terms of deals, compared to the first quarter of 2014, the MoneyTree report said.

Two other Tampa Bay companies also received VC funding in the quarter –Solicore Inc., a Lakeland company that develops lithium polymer batteries and Marxent Labs LLC, a mobile technology firm in St. Petersburg. Read more >>
