Bob’s Discount Furniture, a Top 100 retailer, has launched a new shopping app that allows customers to view furniture in their homes via Augmented Reality.

Per Furniture Today’s story, “Bob’s Discount adds new AR app,” by Anne Flynn Wear:

Bob’s created the app in partnership with 3D streaming company Marxent, the same company that added Virtual Reality capabilities to 69 Macy’s stores this fall, and created the Macy’s “See Your Space IRL” AR app.

“We want to make furniture shopping fun and easy,” said Scott Perry, Bob’s Discount Furniture vice president and executive director of digital and omnichannel experience. “Our new AR app takes what can be a difficult, emotional process and turns it into a positive, engaging experience. Using the app makes our customers happy while helping them solve a problem, and that’s what Bob’s is all about.”

The new app offers Bob’s customers the ability to quickly and easily assess fit and feel in the room that they wish to furnish using Apple’s AR capabilities and tracking developed by Marxent in order to deliver a combination of performance and realism.
