ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman, along with Deputy Mayor Kanika Tomalin and a gaggle of staffers, paid a visit to Marxent’s downtown offices Thursday to say hello and get a little sneak peek of the future.

CEO Beck Besecker showed off Marxent’s breakthrough augmented reality technology, much to the delight of the assembled crowd who marveled as 3D computer images seemed to spring to life before their eyes. Mayor Kriseman even got into the act, using an iPad to check out an app that allows local fire departments to easily customize new equipment.

The mayor and his staff have been visiting local businesses in an effort to open communication and let merchants know that the city wants to hear their concerns. “We want to know if we’re doing anything making it hard for you to be successful,” Mayor Kriseman told Besecker, which lead into a conversation about the climate for small business hiring.

The Mayor also expressed his gratitude to Marxent for making downtown St Pete it’s Florida home.

“We want you to know we appreciate you being here,” Mayor Kriseman said, before pointing out that Marxent could have gone to Austin, Denver, or any number of other “hot” tech markets.

Thanks, Mr. Mayor. We appreciate that you took the time to pop in and say hello. Don’t be a stranger!
